Somerset West Golf Club is a classic Cape Town course with a long and proud history that stretches back to the early twentieth century. The club is often dated to the first decade of the 1900s and today combines that history with modern care and thoughtful updates to the layout. The course itself is notable for offering two quite different experiences in a single round. The front nine plays more like traditional parkland close to the clubhouse with tree lined fairways and smaller landing areas while the back nine moves into a more open links like character with wind exposed holes and larger target areas. In recent years the club has invested in a re designed layout that aims to balance challenge with playability so that experienced players are tested while newcomers still find the course enjoyable.
